Q
Do you give free estimates?
If you are interested in a water feature and can send us a picture of the approximate area you would like it in, we can give you a ballpark estimate over the phone. Otherwise, if it is necessary to travel to your site to complete the estimate, we will charge a fee of $150 which is refundable when you sign on to do the project.

Q
What takes place during a consultation?
Consultations are made by appointment. We travel to your property and spend approximately an hour discussing your project, offering suggestions and helping to firm up your ideas and project requirements. If you are interested in obtaining an estimate, we return to the office and prepare and email a written estimate reflecting the items discussed during our meeting. There is a fee of $150 for a consultation that is refundable upon signing a contract to preform work.

Q
What is a Master CAC?
CAC stands for Certified Aquascape Contractor. Certified Aquascape Contractors (CACs) are the most qualified and informed pond installers in the water gardening industry. All CACs are trained and educated to install beautiful low-maintenance water features using a time-tested methodology. They also provide quality workmanship, outstanding customer service, and knowledgeable assistance to their customers and each other. The Master CAC is the top tier of the program. This is achieved by attaining a benchmark of ponds built which translates to the customer as knowledge and experience. Last we checked there are only about 90 Master CAC in the country.  Green Hill is the only Master CAC in the Upstate of South Carolina.

Q
What is the average budget for landscaping?
As a general rule of thumb, landscaping should cost around 5%-10% of your property (house and land), or more, depending on your vision and requirements. In-ground pools and outdoor kitchens can surpass that number before even planting one tree. One way to approach a seemingly over-the-top potential estimate is by prioritizing your projects using a Master Plan. A Master Plan will allow you to envision the finalized project while giving you a roadmap for phased installation. We can break our estimates out line by line if needed and you can pick and choose what is most important to you based on your needs and budget

Q
How long do we have to wait to get our project started once we sign a contract?
Green Hill Landscaping operates on a first come, first serve basis. We schedule our customers based on an experienced approximation of time required per project. What we cannot schedule is rain- which is the main reason for schedules being thrown off. On the average, we are generally booked out several weeks at any given time. We can sneak smaller jobs in rather quickly.  However, if we are doing a $20,000+ job, we will want to have a solid week (or more) booked dedicated just to your work.

Q
Do you work outside of Greenville?
Absolutely. We have built many projects in Seneca, Spartanburg, and as far north as Asheville. Let us know where you are!

Q
Do you have a minimum job cost?
New installations almost always run $5,000 and more.  We have done some jobs in excess of $250,000.  We routinely provide maintenance, service calls, and design help for under $500.

Q
How long does it take to build a pond?
Most average size ponds (10′ x 15′) can be built in a few days. If the pond is large or has a long stream/waterfall, it will take a little longer. We will let you know at the time of the estimate approximately how long the build should take.

Q
Do you work on weekends?
We work Monday through Friday sun up to sun down. On occasion we will work on a Saturday if there is a hard deadline, however it is not part of our normal schedule.

Q
Do you work year round?
Yes. We build projects all year round. We work in the cold, the heat, and even in light rain. If the ground is unusually frozen or wet from excessive rain, we will wait until more favorable conditions to proceed.

Q
Do you design and install swimming pools?
We do not install swimming pools but work closely with a pool contractor. When you see a pool or spa in our portfolio, then the pool contractor likely did the plumbing, electrical, and shell.  We came in and added the boulders, stonework, and other layers that separate our work from your typical cookie-cutter pool.
